THE TERRORIST (Poetry)

Into the jaws
Of the absurd I fell one day
It was pretty funny
A “terrorist” they said
Me

What’s the cause?
Slaughter
When do you want it?
Now

Oh but you’re a terrorist
Damn man that’s a shame
You’re a traitor to your blood
What blood is that?
The one that’s red I suppose
Stupid insolent fuck

And I’m still the terrorist
The traitor to my blood

What’s the cause?
Fuck your cause
To hell with your “blue” blood
What’s the cause?
Break the strings that drag you by the nose

So I guess I’m the terrorist then
Don’t let me bother you
Go back to killing your people
Good riddance to you too

Beautiful Ugliness

Moments, that’s what keeps me going! Even the ones we think are ugly are beautiful for others. Its true that beauty lies in the eye of the beholder. In late evening while i was having my head in the clouds of smoke Suneetha my maid yell out making me run to her to see what the commotion was all about. She was hitting something with a broom: it’s a rat, its rat she keeps yelling while continuing to slam this rat. She kept missing and the poor bugger kept trying to get away from her then it all stands still as if a moment frizzed in time. The two of us watch the rat take its last breaths and then just die. It all felt somehow very slow-motion, maybe it was the smoke i had my head in.

I run to see if he truly is dead. The poor bugger is dead but not much of a sign of injuries, I pick him up and clean him and run to the hall, getting my lights and camera ready. The maid looks at me in a very confused way but i don’t say a word nor does she.

It takes me about two or three minutes to get started. I have now cleaned the little blood that came out of its nose and cleaned his eyes . By now its legs have started to curl in and it was such an effort to making him look like he was standing, but i did get my shoot. Now while i was doing all this my maid continues to clean the house watching me and my Little cat “Choutu” keeps trying to check out what i was doing. Choutu is another story: She loves to pose for me and spends a lot of her time flowing me around all over the house. After getting some shots i had now to work on keeping choutu of the light box, she just kept trying to get at this rat.

I am still to show Suneetha these photographs, but some days ago she told me: “I don’t try to understand what you do! I was told you are an artist, so i know i will never understand what you do!”

Then this thought came to me. This ugly beautiful moment thought, that beauty is in the eye of beholder, so i let Choutu play with the rat, even though she did give me hard time by trying take the rat out of the light box, but all that said, hope you like the pix, I had fun shooting them.

Horse whisperer

This strange but beautiful story took place in Tarifa spin when i was staying at a friend of mines house, it’s at the top of tariff with all the big fans & old city still staying to stay old, you can see the sea and the city from where i am, the drive up to her house makes you fill like you are immediately transported in time, life seem simple and so beautiful people work hard up here, farming and razing live stock in the main income around here.

This particle day was a Sunday i think, it had been raining all day and it had stopped so i decided take walk with my camera, i had seen some houses on my way up running free and when i asked my friend about she told me “They were free yet not free” they are free yet not free? They farmers own them and let them go to mate, yes i will get back to my story! From a distance i could hear the sound of their calls, as i had go down the road i could see the hard lead by white stallion.

Soon as any of them decided to make a move i stopped and played dead. Slowly yet surly one by one they came to smell me, and check me out. They would all first stamp their feet and puff at me even but i did not make one movement, only keep holing my camera trigger down, that’s not until a mare decided to sniff me out, as he got closer and closer my soul was filled with such a feeling of peace and i was filled with the beauty of life.

It’s a feeling i can’t put in to words, one needs to experience it.

I slowly started to lift my hand out to her, then she bent down to me as if she was trying to touch me too!

After this incident i felt like i had the trust of the heard so i felt i was given a bit more and more. Then i so there was an older brown hoarse must be the ex-boss, now enjoying his last days ruining the hills of tariff. I got so close to him that i was now touching hiss how’s, he was so with me in that moment that i stood up and hugged him, when i say hugged him i truly did hugs him, just like i will hugs any one of you. Then all i could think of is i want a photo of this moment and just like that i could see my friend come down the hill to walk her dog, i slowly crawled out to and asked her to take a photo me, the last two imagers are taken by her.

So hope you all enjoyed reading that magical moment of mine, do look at the photographs now and hope it presses together the information i may have left out.

A dragonfly moment

By now you all know that I am dragonfly crazy, don’t know why but since I was a child I was nuts about them. On the 11th march 2008 @ about 7.37pm Milli came and told me that a dragonfly was sitting next to our bedroom. I don’t know why but my first thought was to run for my camera. Got some (ok) pix and then I got even braver and set up my lights and guided her gently to my hand and the crazy thing was she stayed there as if that was her purpose that night. Then my thought shifted towards what I was going to use as a background. What better than me, the dragonfly crazy man? (even though i did try some others) So here are some pix I took and like, will upload more as I get more time. Hope you all like the pix and they make you smile! Also found on the net this poem that I thought went with the moment.

For all of you who are wondering what happened to the dragonfly after the shoot: I gave her some water and thought I let her spend the night on the front porch, but she had other thoughts or more places to be, as she spread her wings and flew into thick dark night.
After all a dragonfly has a lifespan of only 24 hours. - tim

A Dragonfly

Your delicate wings rapidly beat the air
The sleekness of your weightless body hovers
Curiously observing as though you care
Steadily searching for lifelong endeavors

Do you bring a message of a tranquil destiny?
Does your evolving maturity convey wisdom?
If I follow, will I find harmony or perplexity?
As you disappear… I am serenely lonesome

So what are you doing right now? - Poetry

So what are you doing right now?

I have that fragile fallen,

silence soaking, empty, floating

feeling, like the morning after.

So what are you doing right now?

I am in that slowly healing

Still repentant but none the wiser,

slightly weary, frame of mind.

So what are you doing right now?

I feel like putting on my funny

Facebook, playing Texas

Poker and crashing

into your Funwall

( if I knew how.)

what are you doing right now?

FORUM at the Punchi Theatre

In an environment that is hardly conducive for the expression of opinions, we as citizens of Sri Lanka are often forced to seek strange alternatives. As I have stressed repeatedly in previous posts, Sri Lanka is the last place you would wish to be if you believe in constructive dialogue on sensitive issues. On the one hand, we are often silenced at the outset either by deliberate government control or by self-imposed censorship of socially taboo subjects. On the other hand we are bombarded and saturated by State run propaganda and pointless rhetoric by non-governmental agencies.

So the question remains, where do ordinary, curious and sincere citizens meet to discuss issues in a truly honest and democratic manner?

Here’s your chance.

Ruwanthie de Chickera with the Stages Theatre Group presents an opportunity for audiences to debate and discuss pertinent issues including the Ethnic Conflict and Domestic Violence from a fresh, new perspective offered by Forum Theatre.

Here are the particulars:

Date - Saturday 8th to Wednesday 12th March

Venue: the Punchi Theatre

Time: 7:30pm.

Please note that admission is only by invitation. Invitations are available at the theatre and with members of the cast. It will also be on a first come first serve basis so those who are interested should ideally contact cast members to obtain invitations.

The Cast includes: Mohamed Adamaly, Ruhanie Perera, Gihan de Chickera, Niran Anketell, Dylan Perera, Izhara Huzair Zubair, Jake Oorloff and others.

You may also wish to email izhara_hz@yahoo.co.uk for further details.

Millie - Poetry

I met a gal called millie

very very preety,

one day last week

she dressed up in a nurses uniform

she looked oh so sweet!

We all joined the queue

To tell her about our hearts so weak,

asked her for pills

To help us sleep-

And in exchange gave her

our hearts to keep.

Oh darling millie

I know this sounds silly

But please don’t leave

And make us weep.

What is it that will

make you stay?

Diamonds? a car?

Or your own private clinic?

Free Ideas - FREE the music

No Copyrights music

Music makes the world go around I was told as a child by my father, then why is it not for free, why do we need producers and record deals to get our music out there? The number one killer of music is the copyright laws and everyone trying to own some part of it. The truth is that music is like a free bird that no one can own or claim, lets just say that you write a melody for a song, you think you have come up with an original melody but the truth is that you have taken bits and peaces from some other song or artist that you may have heard somewhere down the line. So is the melody truly yours?

In this time of war and greed one way we can all be connected is through music, it needs no languages or translators, it’s the universal language. After thinking about all this and what we can do to change all this I have come up with a plan to free the music in the world. It’s been held captive for far too long.

This site Free the music hopes just to do that, it connects musicians, writers, producers, video artists, basically anyone that is willing to try and make the change.

The only rule on the website

No one Owens anything, No copyrights, once you lord your contribution what ever it is to the site it’s not yours, it’s like a bird set free. You can add your credit to your name but you must remember that your name will only be small contribution to the song, so there will be many names credited to one song. Many versions of the same melody or song.

If at all a song hits the charts and starts to make something no one gets any of it, it will go into a charity. That way music will truly make the world go around.

How it all works

Anyone can be part of this, even if you don’t know anything about music. Say you play guitar and you have a riff (melody) that you have come up with, you record it on your pc using the software we have loaded, which can be done by any pc from anywhere in the world. Another person who plays base from another world will download it play around with it and add a base part to that Riff and yet another will write some lyrics to it, then someone will add vocals to it. Then someone who likes it will play around with his video camera and graphics and make a video for it. This way song is made and set free to the world out there which none really owns. Even after song is made it can be changed and redone by some other person. The song can keep changing. Keep evolving just like the world.

Other high light of the website

Live jams across the world

The site will set up software so you can have live jams across the world and for the jam to be record at the same time. This way people from different parts of the world can jam online and hopefully come up with something new that connects the world with one voice, one sound.

Add corner

This will be corner of the site where you can place adds for instruments sale or even if you just have a old guitar that you are not using and then you see someone who really needs one, someone that has placed a add on the site, you can gift it or sell it for cheep.

Free music

This is space where you can log in your bands or even your personal songs that you have done and get feed back on what others think about it. You can also use it to download songs from bands you never heard of, this way if you are an unknown band or artist your sound still gets heard by the masses.

Band stand

This is a place where you can place ads looking for other arties in you own city or country or even world wide to start up a band or just to do a recording.

Brain Storm

This is a part of the site that you can put up anything, names for bands, logs, imagers, animation, anything that might interest someone or help with setting the music free.

How will the site maintain it self and pay for its expenses?

The site will sell advertising space for any interested party, there by getting funds to maintain and run the Website.

Found out the stoned truth -Stoned writings!

What if I told you I just had a great thought after a joint, It may sound like a stoned mans dum words but just take some time and think of what I am saying, “what if I told you that I just thought of a way to stop hunger, poverty and most of sadness in this world.

It seems war is the root of all this evils, imaging if tomorrow all our ladders would agree just for one day to stop all wars all over the world, just for one day no one will fight with another, nothing to do with fighting will happen in the whole world. Just for that day how many extra smiles will smile? How many of them will get to live just coz of that one day.

It that hard for us to stop fighting? Greed seems to be the mother of it all, the more we have the more we wont. The more we wont, the more we need, the more we work at getting it, when we don’t we fight. The supper powers of the world use war to get all they wont, even the death of the innocents. Before you say no that’s not true, just think how in some way even you and I are like this supper powers, the truth is we are some how connected in someway to sponsoring war, or fighting it.

Some one told me don’t go to MacDonald’s coz some of your cash from buying that beggar will some how end up killing a increscent child in Iraq, it that true! I really don’t know! Do you? I started writing all this with trying to make point about something but I think I have lost it now
So Thanks for reading! Keep the smile!
