FORUM at the Punchi Theatre

In an environment that is hardly conducive for the expression of opinions, we as citizens of Sri Lanka are often forced to seek strange alternatives. As I have stressed repeatedly in previous posts, Sri Lanka is the last place you would wish to be if you believe in constructive dialogue on sensitive issues. On the one hand, we are often silenced at the outset either by deliberate government control or by self-imposed censorship of socially taboo subjects. On the other hand we are bombarded and saturated by State run propaganda and pointless rhetoric by non-governmental agencies.

So the question remains, where do ordinary, curious and sincere citizens meet to discuss issues in a truly honest and democratic manner?

Here’s your chance.

Ruwanthie de Chickera with the Stages Theatre Group presents an opportunity for audiences to debate and discuss pertinent issues including the Ethnic Conflict and Domestic Violence from a fresh, new perspective offered by Forum Theatre.

Here are the particulars:

Please note that admission is only by invitation. Invitations are available at the theatre and with members of the cast. It will also be on a first come first serve basis so those who are interested should ideally contact cast members to obtain invitations.
