Moments, that’s what keeps me going! Even the ones we think are ugly are beautiful for others. Its true that beauty lies in the eye of the beholder. In late evening while i was having my head in the clouds of smoke Suneetha my maid yell out making me run to her to see what the commotion was all about. She was hitting something with a broom: it’s a rat, its rat she keeps yelling while continuing to slam this rat. She kept missing and the poor bugger kept trying to get away from her then it all stands still as if a moment frizzed in time. The two of us watch the rat take its last breaths and then just die. It all felt somehow very slow-motion, maybe it was the smoke i had my head in.

I run to see if he truly is dead. The poor bugger is dead but not much of a sign of injuries, I pick him up and clean him and run to the hall, getting my lights and camera ready. The maid looks at me in a very confused way but i don’t say a word nor does she.

It takes me about two or three minutes to get started. I have now cleaned the little blood that came out of its nose and cleaned his eyes . By now its legs have started to curl in and it was such an effort to making him look like he was standing, but i did get my shoot. Now while i was doing all this my maid continues to clean the house watching me and my Little cat “Choutu” keeps trying to check out what i was doing. Choutu is another story: She loves to pose for me and spends a lot of her time flowing me around all over the house. After getting some shots i had now to work on keeping choutu of the light box, she just kept trying to get at this rat.

I am still to show Suneetha these photographs, but some days ago she told me: “I don’t try to understand what you do! I was told you are an artist, so i know i will never understand what you do!”
Then this thought came to me. This ugly beautiful moment thought, that beauty is in the eye of beholder, so i let Choutu play with the rat, even though she did give me hard time by trying take the rat out of the light box, but all that said, hope you like the pix, I had fun shooting them.
