Horse whisperer

This strange but beautiful story took place in Tarifa spin when i was staying at a friend of mines house, it’s at the top of tariff with all the big fans & old city still staying to stay old, you can see the sea and the city from where i am, the drive up to her house makes you fill like you are immediately transported in time, life seem simple and so beautiful people work hard up here, farming and razing live stock in the main income around here.

This particle day was a Sunday i think, it had been raining all day and it had stopped so i decided take walk with my camera, i had seen some houses on my way up running free and when i asked my friend about she told me “They were free yet not free” they are free yet not free? They farmers own them and let them go to mate, yes i will get back to my story! From a distance i could hear the sound of their calls, as i had go down the road i could see the hard lead by white stallion.

Soon as any of them decided to make a move i stopped and played dead. Slowly yet surly one by one they came to smell me, and check me out. They would all first stamp their feet and puff at me even but i did not make one movement, only keep holing my camera trigger down, that’s not until a mare decided to sniff me out, as he got closer and closer my soul was filled with such a feeling of peace and i was filled with the beauty of life.

It’s a feeling i can’t put in to words, one needs to experience it.

I slowly started to lift my hand out to her, then she bent down to me as if she was trying to touch me too!

After this incident i felt like i had the trust of the heard so i felt i was given a bit more and more. Then i so there was an older brown hoarse must be the ex-boss, now enjoying his last days ruining the hills of tariff. I got so close to him that i was now touching hiss how’s, he was so with me in that moment that i stood up and hugged him, when i say hugged him i truly did hugs him, just like i will hugs any one of you. Then all i could think of is i want a photo of this moment and just like that i could see my friend come down the hill to walk her dog, i slowly crawled out to and asked her to take a photo me, the last two imagers are taken by her.

So hope you all enjoyed reading that magical moment of mine, do look at the photographs now and hope it presses together the information i may have left out.

A dragonfly moment

By now you all know that I am dragonfly crazy, don’t know why but since I was a child I was nuts about them. On the 11th march 2008 @ about 7.37pm Milli came and told me that a dragonfly was sitting next to our bedroom. I don’t know why but my first thought was to run for my camera. Got some (ok) pix and then I got even braver and set up my lights and guided her gently to my hand and the crazy thing was she stayed there as if that was her purpose that night. Then my thought shifted towards what I was going to use as a background. What better than me, the dragonfly crazy man? (even though i did try some others) So here are some pix I took and like, will upload more as I get more time. Hope you all like the pix and they make you smile! Also found on the net this poem that I thought went with the moment.

For all of you who are wondering what happened to the dragonfly after the shoot: I gave her some water and thought I let her spend the night on the front porch, but she had other thoughts or more places to be, as she spread her wings and flew into thick dark night.
After all a dragonfly has a lifespan of only 24 hours. - tim

A Dragonfly

Your delicate wings rapidly beat the air
The sleekness of your weightless body hovers
Curiously observing as though you care
Steadily searching for lifelong endeavors

Do you bring a message of a tranquil destiny?
Does your evolving maturity convey wisdom?
If I follow, will I find harmony or perplexity?
As you disappear… I am serenely lonesome

So what are you doing right now? - Poetry

So what are you doing right now?

I have that fragile fallen,

silence soaking, empty, floating

feeling, like the morning after.

So what are you doing right now?

I am in that slowly healing

Still repentant but none the wiser,

slightly weary, frame of mind.

So what are you doing right now?

I feel like putting on my funny

Facebook, playing Texas

Poker and crashing

into your Funwall

( if I knew how.)

what are you doing right now?

FORUM at the Punchi Theatre

In an environment that is hardly conducive for the expression of opinions, we as citizens of Sri Lanka are often forced to seek strange alternatives. As I have stressed repeatedly in previous posts, Sri Lanka is the last place you would wish to be if you believe in constructive dialogue on sensitive issues. On the one hand, we are often silenced at the outset either by deliberate government control or by self-imposed censorship of socially taboo subjects. On the other hand we are bombarded and saturated by State run propaganda and pointless rhetoric by non-governmental agencies.

So the question remains, where do ordinary, curious and sincere citizens meet to discuss issues in a truly honest and democratic manner?

Here’s your chance.

Ruwanthie de Chickera with the Stages Theatre Group presents an opportunity for audiences to debate and discuss pertinent issues including the Ethnic Conflict and Domestic Violence from a fresh, new perspective offered by Forum Theatre.

Here are the particulars:

Date - Saturday 8th to Wednesday 12th March

Venue: the Punchi Theatre

Time: 7:30pm.

Please note that admission is only by invitation. Invitations are available at the theatre and with members of the cast. It will also be on a first come first serve basis so those who are interested should ideally contact cast members to obtain invitations.

The Cast includes: Mohamed Adamaly, Ruhanie Perera, Gihan de Chickera, Niran Anketell, Dylan Perera, Izhara Huzair Zubair, Jake Oorloff and others.

You may also wish to email izhara_hz@yahoo.co.uk for further details.

Millie - Poetry

I met a gal called millie

very very preety,

one day last week

she dressed up in a nurses uniform

she looked oh so sweet!

We all joined the queue

To tell her about our hearts so weak,

asked her for pills

To help us sleep-

And in exchange gave her

our hearts to keep.

Oh darling millie

I know this sounds silly

But please don’t leave

And make us weep.

What is it that will

make you stay?

Diamonds? a car?

Or your own private clinic?
